COVID-19 Vaccines
COVID-19 VACCINE AVAILABILITY
Illawarra Medical Centre, based in Ballajura, Western Australia, has been approved to provide COVID-19 vaccines, in adherence with the rollout of the Australian Government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.
COVID-19 Vaccinations are available for eligible patients, while stocks last.
Given the shorter appointment times for COVID-19 Vaccinations, appointments can only be used for the delivery of the vaccine. If you have specific questions or concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine or any other health related matters that you wish to discuss, we advise you to book a separate appointment with your regular GP prior to your vaccination appointment.
KIDS & COVID-19 VACCINATION
We are able to provide COVID-19 vaccines to children aged 5 years and over, in line with the Australian Government’s vaccine rollout plan.
COVID BOOSTER DOSE
It is recommended that all adults who have not had a COVID-19 booster or a confirmed case in the past six months get another booster to give them additional protection against severe illness from COVID, regardless of the number of prior doses received.
This additional booster dose is particularly recommended for those at risk of severe illness, including:
- anyone aged 75 years and over; and
- adults who have medical comorbidities, disability or complex health needs.
ATAGI has advised that those aged 65 years and over should consider a booster, following a discussion with their health care provider. Those aged 18 to 74 should also consider a booster if they are at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Otherwise healthy children, teenagers and adults do not need a booster at this time, given the low incidence of severe illness and high level of hybrid immunity amongst this cohort.

BOOKINGS
Bookings for COVID-19 vaccinations can be made online or by phoning (08) 9208 6400
For those who have not yet had their primary vaccinations, you will require 2 doses, given at the recommended number of weeks apart (depending on the vaccine given) and your second dose will be booked at the same time.
For children aged 5-11 years, it is recommended to receive the second dose 8 weeks after receiving the first dose. You will receive a reminder a week before the second dose appointment.
A booster is recommended for certain groups who have not had a COVID-19 booster or a confirmed case in the past six months, regardless of the number of prior doses received. Click here for details on ATAGI’s recommended vaccine doses for each age and population group>>
Each vaccine appointment will last for ~5 minutes and you will be required to wait at our practice for a further 15-30 minutes after your vaccination, to ensure there are no major reactions to the vaccine.
Given the shorter appointment times for our COVID-19 vaccinations, appointments can only be used for the delivery of the vaccine. If you have specific questions or concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine or any other health related matters that you wish to discuss, we advise you to book a separate appointment with your regular GP prior to your vaccination appointment.
